With the first day’s play in the 2025 MB Nottingham English Junior Championships now concluded, the attention now turns to today’s main draws, with action taking place across eleven age categories and at two esteemed venues.
Nottingham Squash Rackets Club will host the Mixed Under 9s, plus all U11 and U13 matchups, whilst the U15, U17 and U19 competitions take place over at the University of Nottingham.
In an innovative development that heralds an exciting new era for the prestigious competition, all age categories will adopt a multi-match Monrad format for 16 players in their respective main draws.
With the exception of the U9 events, which were not subject to a qualification stage, each category’s main draw provides the automatic entry point for the top dozen seeds, who are now joined by the successful competitors from yesterday’s qualifying matches to complete the last 16s.
Among the latter are two who fly the flag for the home county, with Nottinghamshire qualifiers Heidi Cosgrove and Noor Al-Qamachi having successfully negotiated their respective events to enter the GU13 and GU17 main draws.

They, in common with all their fellow competitors today, will be in exalted junior squash company at a prestigious closed tournament, for which this year, only players within the top 50 national rankings have been eligible to enter.
The matches to come promise, therefore, to be of the highest quality as England’s best young players battle on the biggest stage, and look to follow in the footsteps of the tournament's former champions, including current professionals Declan James and Millie Tomlinson.
