England Squash has announced a collaborative new partnership with the British Army that will see the two organisations work together to enhance participation, develop talent and encourage elite competition throughout England.
The new partnership will bring tangible benefits to both organisations and strengthen ties. England Squash will glean insight into leadership, communication and successful teamwork training techniques - skills that are second nature to the Army. In return, Army Squash, who have more than 250 players across the country, will attend squash camps at the National Squash Centre and gain coaching expertise from England Squash.
In addition, England Squash and the Professional Squash Association (PSA) will sign the UK Armed Forces Covenant at the AJ Bell PSA World Squash Championships in Manchester on Friday 15th December.
The Covenant, which has been signed by more than 1,500 organisations, is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces and their families, will be treated fairly and not be disadvantaged.
Keir Worth, CEO at England Squash said,
“We’re thrilled to partner with the British Army. This partnership represents the start of an exciting and mutually beneficial alliance which will enhance players’ development both on and off the court.”
Major General Tyrone Urch CBE, the President of the Army Squash Rackets Association, said:
“I am delighted that our sport’s national governing body, England Squash, has agreed to show their commitment to the Armed Forces by signing the Covenant. In addition, I very much look forward to fostering the developing relationship between Army Squash and England Squash.”
