About our club
About Chester Rugby Squash
Chester Rugby Squash Club is one of the best known squash clubs in the northwest, and since we started playing squash in 1973, several world champions and international players have represented the club, notably Peter Nicol (1995 Men’s World Champion, and Sarah FitzGerald, Women’s no 1 in 2003).
Currently the Club has members of various standards ranging from beginners through to County, and all ages. In addition to Squash, we offer Racketball, and coaching is available for players of all abilities.
Courts cost £4 for a 40 minute session (ie £2 per person)
Membership
Club membership is £135 per annum (£60 for juniors), which is Chester RUFC membership. In addition to Squash and Racketball, this allows you access to all Chester RUFC events and matches (except 1st XV). The membership year runs from 1st August, but we discount this pro-rata when new members join mid-year.
Members have their own door key and can play any time.
New members are welcome to come along to a few club sessions before committing to membership.
Social
We have club Squash sessions every Monday evening (6.30 – 9pm ) and Saturday afternoon (4 -6pm). These are drop in sessions where people turn up and play whoever is there, for 3 games, on a rotating basis. In that way you play a range of players. In the summer (and in the winter on the few occasions when there are no league matches) we also have club sessions on Thursday evenings. Cost is £3 per session.
Teams
We have 4 teams that compete in the Northwest Counties Squash League (Divisions 2, 3, 4, and 5) every Thursday evening from late Sept to early April, and also one team in the Welsh League Division 1 that plays at home on alternate Tuesday evenings. We also compete in a less formal Summer League on Thursday evenings from May to July.
Coaching
Group coaching is available on Saturday morning from 0930 to 1045 for juniors, beginners and improvers (£5 for adults, £3 for juniors).
One to one coaching is available by arrangement with Rachael Chadwick, our professional who plays on the womens’ professional circuit, and Robbie Blair, both of whom are England Squash Level 2 coaches.
Court Hire
Courts are available for hire during off peak times (weekdays and Sundays, 8am to 5pm) by clubs, groups, or individuals who need a squash court space for various activities such as Pilates, yoga, fitness classes, Zumba, table tennis etc). Please contact us for more details.
