UK Sport has today announced a record £330m of Government and National Lottery funding to be invested in 50 sports, including squash, for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games cycle (LA28).
Squash will receive £500,000 over four years to support British squash athletes in the build up to LA28. England Squash, Scottish Squash and Squash Wales - the governing bodies for squash in their respective home nations - will work together to deliver a shared UK-wide Olympic performance programme.
The UK has a rich history of producing world-class squash players and supporting them to win on the world stage and in major sporting events. British players won 8 of the 15 squash medals available at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, and more recently this week, England men’s team won a silver medal in the World Team Championships in Hong Kong. With three players currently inside the world top 10 and some promising young talent emerging, British squash players are well placed for podium success at LA28.
England Squash, Scottish Squash and Squash Wales are delighted to be working towards their first Olympic Games and will do everything in their power to ensure a new UK-wide performance programme gives British squash athletes the best possible chance of delivering outstanding performances at LA28 and beyond.
