England Squash announces squad for European U15 and U17 Championships

England Squash has announced a talented line-up for this year’s ESF European Mixed Team U15 and U17 Championships, taking place in Porto between 9-12 May.

The team will be looking to build on last year’s U15 gold triumph and fourth place finish in the U17 tournament to clinch their 16th and 24th titles, respectively.

Four of the five players selected for the U15 squad featured in England’s recent Five Nations victory in Cardiff.

British Junior champion Luke McBride, English Junior champion Harriet Broadbridge, Bucks Silver winner Ameerah Ismail and Warwick Gold champion Ali Khalil all featured in Cardiff and will be hungry for a second international title in consecutive months.

Completing the line-up is Yorkshire’s George Barker whose impressive season – which includes fourth place finishes at the Warwick Gold, Bucks and Chichester Silvers – has been rewarded with his first England call up.

In the U17 squad, British Junior champion Dylan Roberts and debutant Elizabeth Dicker will lead the pack and are to be joined by English Junior champion Ronnie Hickling.

Also selected are current GU15 British Junior champion Reka Kemecsei and Warwick Gold runner-up Ismail Khalil.

Commenting on the squad, England Potential Head Coach Adam Fuller said:

“We’re extremely excited by the squad we’ve selected to travel to Portugal. We’ve been really impressed by the level of performance, commitment, and attitude shown by all players this season and are confident they can help us achieve further podium success next month.”

Lucy Townley, Junior Talent Pathway Manager at England Squash said:

“We’re looking forward to taking two strong squads away to the European Championships in Porto this year. All players have performed exceptionally well at squads and selection events this season and thoroughly deserve this opportunity to represent their country. Our focus is firmly set on retaining our U15 title and hopefully regaining the U17 title.”
