Manchester will once again play host to the British National Squash Championships from 12th-18th February 2018.
Now in its 44th year, the British Nationals attracts the very best of British talent including three-time World Champion Nick Matthew who will be gunning for a record tenth title and former World No.1 Laura Massaro.
Manchester has hosted the British Nationals since 1997 and is renowned for staging world-class sporting events, most recently the AJ Bell PSA World Championships.
The National Squash Centre in Sportcity will stage the 2018 Men’s and Women’s Open titles, while the Northern Club in Didsbury will host the Masters Championships. Following the new configuration of the National Squash Centre, the Masters event will temporarily move to the Northern Club for logistical reasons.
England Squash CEO Keir Worth commented,
“We are delighted to host the British Nationals in Manchester once again. We are thrilled to work in partnership with the England Squash Masters Committee and take the Nationals once again to the Northern which offers a superb club environment."
“The new seating at the National Squash Centre provides an excellent platform for players and spectators alike and for live streaming the event.
“Our partnership with Manchester City Council continues to go from strength to strength following the World Championships and the World Doubles this year alone.“
England Squash and Manchester City Council are seeking to stage further major squash championships in the city over the coming years following the hugely successful AJ Bell PSA World Championships which is already bearing fruit home and abroad.
Discussions are under way for the 2019 British Nationals where the ambition is to host both events at the National Squash Centre once again.
