Fuelled for squash: tips for maintaining a healthy diet

Ollie Turner, Performance Nutritionist at England Squash shares insight for all players about the best ways to stay in shape and improve performance. Whether it be eating more greens, cutting out sugary snacks or simply doing more to monitor your diet, here are his top three tips on how to stay healthy…

1) Consume protein throughout the day

Proteins form the building blocks of your muscles, with muscles containing the capacity for movement. Players engage in training programmes to move faster and become fitter and stronger. Training elicits little tears in the muscle, and you need protein to repair and rebuild the tears in order to become fitter and stronger. Proteins are vital for squash players and you want to consume protein throughout the day to get a constant repair and rebuilding of the muscle.
