Bryant and Harris to lead England charge at 2023 WSF World Junior Championships

Jonah Bryant and Asia Harris are amongst nine rising stars who have been selected to represent England at the 2023 WSF World Junior Championships in Melbourne between 18-29 July.

Following impressive performances at selection events, current British Junior Open U19 runner-up Jonah Bryant and England No.1 Asia Harris will be closing out the season in style by representing their country at the sport’s most prestigious junior competition.

In the women’s team event, Harris will play alongside current British National U17 champion Amelie Haworth, 2022 Bucks Silver U19 runner-up Isabel McCullough, and London Gold U19 runner-up Meha Shah.

For the men’s and women’s individual events, the team players will be joined by Bryant, current English National U19 quarter-finalist Layla Johnson, current English National U19 runner-up Yusuf Sheikh, English National U17 champion Alex Broadbridge, and 2022 Warwick Silver runner-up Caleb Boy.

Commenting on the squad, England Squash Junior Talent Pathway Manger Lucy Townley said:

The World Junior Championships is the pinnacle event of a junior’s career and we are extremely proud of the nine players selected to represent England in Australia. There are some tough individuals and teams competing this year but we are up for the challenge and hope to build upon our recent European under 19 success.

England Development Head Coach Tim Vail said: “'We are very excited to be going to Australia for the World Junior Championships. This is a really talented group of players that have a great chance of bringing home some silverware in both the individual and team events.”

Asia Harris, England No.1, said: “I’m really happy to be representing England for the last time as a junior. I can’t wait to get underway at this year’s individual event and contribute to the team event too - hopefully we can replicate the men’s team victory from last year!”
