Campaign calendar 2020

From Squash 57 to Women's Squash Week, below is a snapshot of the campaigns and awareness weeks we'll be supporting or delivering over the next 12 months.

This calendar is intended to give clubs, county associations and coaches the opportunity to plan their activity in line with these campaigns. We'll be in touch with more info on each campaign either in our club newsletter or by email.

Please keep checking back - these campaign dates may be subject to change and more campaigns may be added.

January 2020 New Year participation initiative With New Year's resolutions and new fitness goals, January is a great time to promote squash to newer players. Make use of the new content and promotional materials within the club toolkit to raise the profile of squash and encourage more people to get on court. Clubs can implement participation programmes such as Squash Girls Can, Squash 57 and Squash 101 to engage new players or use the opportunity to promote existing sessions to increase numbers.
February 2020 Time to Talk Day This national campaign aims to start a conversation about mental health and challenge stigma. Join the conversation on social media by using the official hashtag. Visit the website to access the campaign materials and support.
8 March 2020 International Women's Day International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

England Squash have an opportunity for affiliated clubs to apply for a £150 grant to host an International Women's Day event.

May 2020 Clean Sport Week Clean Sport Week will celebrate clean athletes and the hard work that goes into their success, and provide a platform for athletes and partner organisations to talk about clean sport with pride. 1-7 June 2020 Volunteers Week A national campaign that provides an opportunity to celebrate and say thank you to the volunteers within your club or county association. England Squash will join the conversation on social media and will be sharing case studies and support materials for clubs.

Share the stories of some of your volunteers, hold an event to say thank you or use the opportunity to recruit new volunteers.

June 2020 Coaching Week A national campaign that provides an opportunity to celebrate great coaching. During this week, we'll be running a Squash Girls Can campaign to encourage development amongst female coaches.

June 2020 Squash 57We will create a campaign to promote Squash 57 to players and provide new content in our toolkit for clubs and coaches. We'll also feature case studies and news stories from clubs, players and coaches. Clubs can use this opportunity to raise the profile of current sessions to attract new players, start up new sessions, and share stories and successes with their community and with England Squash. We will send more information on how clubs can get involved closer to the campaign.
June 2020School Sport Week A Youth Sport Trust campaign that celebrates school sport, sport and physical activity for young people.

An opportunity to engage with your local schools to offer an opportunity for young people to try squash. Visit the website to access the campaign materials and support.

Share your stories and pictures of your events using the hashtag #NSSW and tag @YouthSportTrust.

September 2020Women's Squash Week An international, week-long celebration of female squash and an opportunity to raise the profile of squash amongst women and girls. England Squash will build on the success of the 2019 campaign to engage clubs, coaches and other partners.

Use this opportunity to further promote sessions at your club to new, or returning female players. We will be contacting clubs with more information on how else to participate.

September 2020National Fitness Day A chance to highlight the role that physical activity plays across the UK, helping us raise awareness of its importance in helping us lead healthier and active lifestyles.

Get involved with a session for different groups of people to get started with fitness activities, show how squash is a great way to get fit! Share your activities using the hashtag #FitnessDay, or share what fitness means to you using #Fitness2Me

10 October 2020World Mental Health Day An international campaign that aims to raise awareness and understanding of mental health. With the positive role that sport can play for mental health, it's a great opportunity to talk about the mental health benefits that squash can bring.

Engage with the hashtag #WMHD2020 on social media, share case studies with England Squash. Visit the website to access the campaign materials and support.

Work with a local mental health partner to create an opportunity for more people to get on court. Create a sustainable safe space for people to freely talk about any issues they may be fascing.

10 October 2020World Squash Day A global campaign to promote the sport of squash that will focus on encouraging all clubs to reach out into their towns and cities to engage with their local communities Building upon the success of the events held in England in 2019, we will once again be supporting and encouraging clubs to open their doors to the local community for World Squash Day. More details will be available closer to the date
October 2020Parents in Sport Week A national campaign that highlights the important role that parents have to play in sport.

Find out how you can encourage parents in your club to actively participate in their child's development in the sport. Hashtag #SportsParents to show your appreciate the parents at your club and visit the website to access the campaign materials and support.
