Shortlist confirmed for 2023 England Squash Awards.
The nominations are in! We're delighted to announce the shortlisted candidates for the 2023 England Squash Awards.

This year's awards aim to celebrate the inspirational work of people across the sport, and showcase their stories and achievements across eight categories.

Commenting on the 2023 shortlist, awards panellist and England Squash High Performance Coach Paul Carter said:

“It's been a pleasure to have been involved with the awards process this year. The awards provide an opportunity for England Squash to recognise the outstanding efforts of those who go above and beyond in the squash community.

“We've been flooded with some fantastic nominations, so thanks to everyone who has got involved and good luck to all of the shortlisted nominees.”

The shortlisted nominees for this year’s awards are as follows:

  • Abbeydale Squash & Fitness - Yorkshire
  • Lichfield Squash Club - Staffordshire
  • Pontefract Squash and Leisure Club - Yorkshire
  • Sedgefield Squash Club - Durham & Cleveland
Coach of the Year
  • Bob Aynsley - Northern Squash
  • Jo Wallis - Abbeydale Squash Club
  • Phil Rushworth - Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club
Unsung Hero of the Year
  • Pauline Young - Charnwood Squash and Racketball Club
  • Steve Widdison - Collingham Squash Club
  • Tina Kershaw - Wycombe Squash & Racketball Club
Young Volunteer/Coach of the Year
  • Arriella Randall - Edgbaston Priory Club
  • Finlay Stott - Duffield Squash and Racketball Club
  • Rosa Gray - East Gloucestershire Club
Community Project of the Year
  • Mixed Ability Squash - Wyvern Squash Club and Green Days
  • Squash Activation and Community Outreach - Malikah Khan
  • Flood Recovery - Horncastle Squash Club
Rising Star of the Year – Girl
  • Emily Coulcher-Porter - Wycombe Squash & Racketball Club
  • Maebh Lovely - Northern Lawn Tennis Club
  • Sophie Harding - Off The Wall Squash
Rising Star of the Year - Boy
  • Ben Lamond - West Hants Lawn Tennis Club
  • Dylan Roberts - Bexley Tennis, Squash and Racketball Club
  • Mitaire Onoge - Manchester Squash Academy
Referee of the Year
  • Ashley Smith - Northamptonshire
  • Steve Eccles - Lancashire
  • Peter Hindmarsh - Yorkshire

In addition to this year’s shortlist, England Squash would like to recognise the efforts of another eight nominees within the community who excelled in 2023:
